About the author
From rook to book
Aguidon found a young wild blue-eyed rook, abandoned by other rooks it seemed, sitting on a rock in his garden during the summer of 2005. Later, the young bird attached to the man and returned daily to sit on his arm or shoulder and eat the food he provided. For that reason, a photo of this actual rook is on the back of the paperback edition of KRA. Some years later, this young domesticated wild rook inspired the writer and the idea for the story of KRA gradually took shape. With an affinity for computers, especially the creative and artistic aspects, he decided to make a movie. In particular, an animated film about the developing tale.
Later in 2013 Aguidon got himself acquainted with some advanced 3D-software and invested loads of time, money and efforts in this project.
The fictional story should cover not much more than one and a half day in an undefined time, ages ago. Because of that, the story would lack any elements of modern days. Aguidon imagined camera shots of important scenes and so gradually, the tale started to form.
A film impossible
After spending well over a year adjusting countless parameters and variables, Aguidon came to the obvious conclusion that his own requirements, his search for nuance and detail made it practically impossible for him to create and finish such a realistically animated movie. When the first scene of the first chapter was prepared completely three-dimensional, he decided to stop his efforts for the film KRA.
The picture shown on the front cover of the book is just one camera shot of this 3D scene. Some details of this picture and other created images can be found spread over this website and below.
the author of KRA did not give up on his ambitions and chose to write the script in a way that it is readable like a book.
Being from the Netherlands, Aguidon hardly had any experience with the English language. In spite of that, he challenged himself and wrote the book in English. He started writing the novel KRA in the summer of 2014 and finished the book in the spring of 2015. Because the author decided to publish the first edition himself, the name Aguidon also serves as the name of the publisher.
The author found an indispensable native American English editor and contacted a Dutch printing company, which provided the offset printing and logistics. Furthermore, distribution in the US and the rest of the world is being provided via Amazon companies.
In the summer of 2015, the book KRA, the debut novel of Aguidon was finally ready and available in paperback.
The writer Aguidon
Aguidon lived in the southern part of the Netherlands during his early childhood. Later, his family moved and he spent his youth in a town close to Rotterdam. The author went to university to study sociology and politicology. But he switched to social geography in Utrecht later, within a year.
However, studying appeared not to be his thing at that time and Aguidon ended up as a full-time volunteer at a daycare center for over a year. After that, he had a year of education in order to become a teacher at an elementary school. In short, he explored some of his interests during this phase of his life.
Years later, his passion for audio and sound led him to a fascination for computers. For over ten years, he had a career in ICT before he decided to become a full-time house father for both of his sons. Later on and currently, he also spends time in his audio production studio and is ever busy with ICT-related technologies. The author also likes to watch the birds in his garden and cycling through the countryside.
Aguidon wrote on several occasions in his life but he considers the book KRA his most precious accomplishment up to now. Aguidon’s aspirations to write do not stop here as he is preparing his second book, part 1 of the trilogy. And he is already thinking about the story line and the details of the third novel, the final part of the trilogy.

Special aspects of KRA
KRA is mysterious fiction and a speechless fantasy adventure whereas speechless can be interpreted rather literally as Aguidon deliberately choose to use no dialogues and no language spoken throughout the novel. This remarkable feature is explained in the foreword of the book.
Aguidons consistent perspective, format or style in the whole novel is rather uncommon and special. It comes close to the third person format but that implies a certain intelligence with the word person. Therefore, Aguidon tends to name it camera perspective because a camera, unlike a narrator, is a brainless entity. And it is not knowing anything about a character’s thoughts or one’s past for example, and only able to describe what it sees in the present tense. This unique style has been noted by reviewers of Readers’ Favorite, who both rated KRA 5 stars.
Review by Faridah Nassozi
In KRA by Aguidon, Kanoa’s sleep was interrupted by the sharp screaming of a rook. When he rushed to the rook, he had no idea the chain of events his merciful act was about to set in motion. Before taking off into the sky, the rook gave Kanoa a shiny black marble. In the near distance, Kanoa saw a cottage and he was drawn to it. At the cottage, after a moment of hesitation, Kanoa was invited inside.
As soon as the occupants of the cottage saw the shiny black marble, a frenzy of activity ensued as each person set out on what seemed to be a pre-planned mission. The lady of the cottage took the marble and headed to the village to meet with an elderly gentleman; a young man headed to the castle in the mountains to meet with the king; while another person rode a camel to the south across the dunes to meet with the head of a settlement.
What is the mystery behind the shiny black marble that sparked such a frenzy of strange activity from everyone? And what are the intentions of the fearsome cloaked figure, and his companion the hawk, lurking in the shadows, watching their every move…
While reading the novel, plenty of these kind of questions will raise. In that case, just read on.
KRA by Aguidon
is a one of a kind fantasy mystery.
The story is delivered in a unique writing style that excluded any conversation and yet remains very interactive and compelling. This absence of conversation infused a serene and enchanted-like feel in the reading experience. The story takes place in an enthralling setting with vivid scenery as painted through Aguidon’s captivating words. The diversity and depth of characters in KRA is a thing to remember. Each new character introduced is as unique as the last and adds a fresh layer of intrigue to the story. KRA comes to life through a combination of an original plot, captivating setting, and memorable characters all glued together with lots of mystery, suspense and intrigue.

KRA by Aguidon is a fascinating story where a boy encounters a rook who gives him a shiny black marble that seems to be incredibly important. This in turn leads him to the dog, Bo, who becomes his trusty sidekick, and they encounter a Sultan and a King. Kanoa intends to give the marble to the King in a ceremony, but is unable to do so, and the second half of the book is comprised of a showdown with a pair of colossal giant brothers who kidnap a young girl named Luzette. They are trying to recover Luzette, the crown, and the marble, as well as battling against the evil giants.
This book caught me a little off guard in the first few chapters because it is told in third person format, present tense, and there is very little dialogue. Almost all of the dialogue is told in single word chunks, and most of the actual communication is told in narration rather than actual communication.
this seemed off-putting, but the further I got into the story the more I actually enjoyed this style. It was perfect for the showdown later, with the giant and made the story feel like a folk-tale as much as an actual novel.
KRA by Aguidon
is a highly recommended read for anyone looking for a change of pace from a more traditional novel and who likes unique narration styles! Very interesting and entertaining story. The narration was very clean and the story is excellent, so even though it gets off to a rocky start it really hits its stride later on and reaches a great climax. The characters are cleverly created, and I think Bo was my favorite. There are also a number of excellent pictures that add to the overall feel.
